Non Convertible Debentures, or NCD’s for short, are a debt instrument issued by financial companies that have been registered under the companies act 1956/2013. These NCD's are issued for a limited period and have monthly/ quarterly/ yearly payout options or cumulatively at the end of the policy tenure. The principal amount or cumulative amount is then transferred to the investor at the end of the fixed period.

A put option in an NCD allows the investor the flexibility to redeem the NCD and receive the principal amount back. This option becomes advantageous if market interest rates increase, as the investor can opt to redeem the NCD and potentially reinvest at higher rates elsewhere.
